“When we propose looking to intact traditional cultures for the kind of balance and aesthetics which will guide us in creating personal culture, we are implicitly making a claim, namely, that there is a wisdom to the organization of traditional cultures which does not exist in our society.”
“Turtles All The Way Down”, John Grinder
Join Tom Best in this investigation of the structural similarities between NLP and ‘aboriginal or ‘indigeneous’ worldviews and practices. You’ll have the opportunity to explore your own deep cultural programming by comparing it to Native American worldviews and the topography of the Sacred. You’ll explore Shamanic Consciousness, a deliberate pattern of thought and techniques for utilizing energy to focus the mind, integrate the body and spirit, bypass the analytical and security filters of the ego, and accomplish a specific healing or helping purpose.
Native People throughout the world, in their quest to experience wisdom, knowledge, power, and health, have created living models of the context of contexts---the cosmos.
From the Medicine Wheel of the north American plains Indians to the sacred hula of Hawaii, and the reciprocal shamanic world of the high Andes, this understanding of life has served it's creators well in their search for harmony with the earth and success in personal and spiritual life.
Tom will draw from North American Plains Indian, Hawaiian, and especially highland Andean shamanistic approaches in this exploration of Shamanism, Spirituality and NLP.

Tom Best, an International NLP Trainer for the last 22 years, currently directs Best Resources, an NLP training and consulting company based in San Antonio, Texas. His background in cultural anthropology has led him to investigate many of the connections between Neuro-Linguistic Programming and traditional or "primitive" cultural practices in the fields of health, spirituality, cultural systems, and personal identity.
His current area of interest is the interface between personal identity and the cultural matrix from which it evolves.
