When reading M. H. Erickson’s cases, we notice his particular way of treating women, 

his approach towards women and his attention to gender issues. 

Patterns and values regarding trust, fidelity, loyalty, honesty, sincerity and also care for 

physical appearance and body shape are evident. 

Through a selection of Erickson’s cases I intend to describe ericksonian strategies with 

women still applicable today. 

Each strategy represents Erickson’s values and attitudes towards women regarding the 

proper way to live, act, and be a woman, mother, wife, and professional. 

Consuelo C. Casula is a psychotherapist with private practice in Milan, Italy. 

She teaches hypnosis and NLP at the Scuola Italiana di Ipnosi e Psicoterapia Ericksoniana and 

in other schools of psychotherapy.  

She is a member of the board of directors of the SII (Società Italiana di Ipnosi). 

She teaches Interpersonal Communication as Assistant Professor at IULM University, Milan. 

She has written more than 60 articles and 7 books. Her publications include  "I porcospini di Schopenhauer", 

“Giardinieri, principesse, porcospini” (translated into Portugese and Spanish) and 

co-authored with Dan Short “Speranza e resilienza”. 

In Milan she has organized workshops on Women’s Voices.
